Quick recap of today's games

It was good to see so many parents out in the rain, wind and cold to watch their sons play today. I expecially liked the resourceful parents that created their own "skyboxes"; vans and SUVs with side doors and back gates open so the families could comfortably watch the games.

I didn't stay out for every minute of every game (my daughter was coaching in a volleyball tournament in the gym there), but I got the gist of what was going. Game 1 was HSRC team #1 versus Luther East. This game was much closer than the previous couple of weeks against LE, which was good for both teams - we had a more competitive game and they don't get completely discouraged. It looked like LE had a couple more players, so they had some to sub in. Please comment with corrections if I'm wrong, but I think the final score was two touchdowns to one - not exactly sure about the extra points.

Game 2 was HSRC team #2 against HRK Eagles. They, as usual, had a very strong team, with a gifted quarterback. I think it was two touchdowns to none, HRK at halftime. HRK got one more touchdown after halftime while the Patriots were shut out. Final score, 21-8.

I missed most of game #3, HSRC team #2 against Luther East. What I did see gave me the impression that this game wasn't as close as the other Patriots team's game against LE. I think I saw three or four HSRC touchdowns to zero for LE. Once again, if anyone has the final score, please leave a comment.

The final game was HSRC #1 versus HRK. This one wasn't as close as the #2's game vs. HRK. It was 14-6, HRK at halftime, but they broke it open in the second. The Eagles scored three touchdowns in the second half, one on a very long pass. HSRC had difficulty completing their passes, with several going off fingertips or otherwise missing just barely. Throw in a couple of interceptions, and you have a final score of 33-6.

The spirit of the games seemed to be very good, and we're thankful for that. We are trying to put together one more Saturday of games, down in Kankakee. We'll pass along info about that as we get it.
